Weekly Wrap-up: Week Ending February 18th, 2023

Archie comics released Betty: The Final Girl this week, featuring three stories following the women of Archie comics set in a dark winter wood. Betty, Melody, and Bridgette face spooky stories in this newest installment of the Chilling Adventures imprint of Archie Horror. Grab your copy in stores now or here through Pages and Panels Amazon Affiliate link.

Releasing this May, Ghostlore, a new title from Boom! Studios, questions the difference between seeing dead people and really seeing them. Estranged father and daughter Lucas and Harmony are involved in a fatal accident and find themselves able to see ghosts. But they’re not the only ones who can see these spirits, and not everyone is out to save our souls.

Brain Micheal Bendis is one of those authors whose name on the cover means grab the book. Super talented and creative, Bendis finds ways to bring humor, character, and emotion into his stories in ways that almost always result in a good read. Murder Inc.: Jagger Rose seems to offer the same experience. Sent in an alternate history of the World where crime families kept a total stronghold of control on the United States, Murder Inc: Jagger Rose focuses on the up-and-coming assassin daughter of the Bonavese family.

Before the Suicide Squad can kill the Justice League, they need to get out of Arkham. In the prequel comic to the upcoming Rocksteady game, DC’s team of ragtag reformed villains face off in Amanda Waller’s new and improved Arkham. Those who make it out, make their way onto Task Force X. Suicide Squad: Kill Arkham Asylum offers an exclusive item code in each of the limited five-issue run for use in Rocksteady’s Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League game, both releasing in late May.

For people who spent their lives being told they had over-active imaginations, Szymon Kudrański’s new ongoing title with Image comics is going to be epic. Something Epic focuses on a fourteen-year-old boy who has the ability to see fictional characters as factual elements in his life. From superheroes to video games to cartoons, they’re all real- and admitting that is scarier than it sounds. Something Epic #1 releases May 10th and be pre-ordered now.

For those of us waiting eagerly to see some of comics’ most powerful ladies, we’ll be waiting a bit longer. The Marvels has a new release date and poster. Now hitting theaters November 10th instead of July, The Marvels poster featuring Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, and Kamala Khan in their respective logos. I have to say, it’s my favorite poster from Marvel in recent years and while I’m most excited about seeing more Ms. Marvel, it’s got my attention for all three ladies. I can’t wait to get a copy for my office!

On the total opposite side of the spectrum, Vault Comics announced a follow-up to the very adult Money Shot comics with Money Shot: Comes Again. It’s a fun, dirty, sexy romp through space from writer Tim Seeley, and is not appropriate for younger readers.
