Weekly Wrap-Up Week Ending February 4th, 2023

The first announcements of the DC slate and the September Pull List top off our week!

Archie Comics welcomed a new character to Riverdale this week in Archie’s Valentine’s Day Special #1! Cassie Cloud, a spectacularly tall teen with fun hair joins the gang in “More Than Meets the Eye: Rise of the Short Kings” debuting in this collectible anthology, out now.

My personal favorite for the dark and spooky stories is always Boom! and the first look at the new title Harrower, releasing on the 8th. The four-part limited series follows a teenage girl obsessed with the supernatural entity known as the Harrower.

September marks the return of Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s evil sister Azula in Avatar: The Last Airbender–Azula in the Spirit Temple. Seeking refuge while attempting to destabilize Fire Lord Zuko’s nation, Azula winds up in a monastery where she’ll be forced to face the consequences of her actions.

James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the full slate of upcoming DC film and television projects. You can check out the full recap here.

In other news, fans were treated to the first peek at a more modern Cyborg in DC Power: A Celebration. This anthology features two dozen black creatives telling the stories of DC’s most celebrated Black heroes. DC Milestone Initiative Talent Development writer Morgan Hampton earned the opportunity to showcase his talent in the upcoming Cyborg title this May, but Power: A Celebration marks the first glance of his version of the iconic hero as he returns to Detroit.

The 2020 pandemic changed our views on a lot of things, but Heart Attack, whose first six issues were released ten years ago, is one of those stories that hindsight and real life may have helped develop. In September, the full graphic novel featuring the first six issues and a follow-up six issues never before scenes will hit stands across the country. following the story of young love in a post-pandemic world, the story feels even more timely than before.

Finally, Marvel continues to capitalize on the humor of Ant-Man in time for the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania with a real-life copy of Scott Lang’s memoir hitting shelves. This in-canon “memoir” of the character of Scott Lang features 20 stories of his life as an avenger, a father, a criminal, and most notably, a Baskin-Robbins employee. Now available for pre-order, Look Out for The Little Guy is available in September.
